A little goofing off can go a long way, and if you’ve been looking for a reason to indulge your silly side, the time has come: March 22nd marks National Goof Off Day, which commemorates nothing so much as the pure joy of cutting loose.

“ALL WORK AND NO PLAY”

If you ’ve seen The Shining than you’re familiar with the risks associated with a lifestyle of “all work and no play” and the benefits of setting aside a day for some guilt-free goofing off!

Those of you blessed (or is it cursed?) with an industrious nature that just won’t rest, simply channel that incessant energy toward something absolutely useless! Here a few ideas to help you keep things goofy all day long:

HARMLESS PRANKS – HUGE WASTE OF TIME

Playing a harmless prank on a friend or coworker is a perfectly unproductive way of blowing off some steam while honoring the spirit of the holiday.

DON’T WORK TOO HARD GOOFING OFF

Doing too much defeats the whole purpose of the day. Why not put on some classic comedies, kick back, and let the goofy times roll? Caddyshack, Airplane!, Step-Brothers, The Jerk and Anchorman all bear the Mindslap cinematic seal of approval!

ROUND OF MINI-GOLF ANYONE?

On a typical day, you’re probably too focused on your work and other responsibilities to really cut loose. There’s a big, wide world out there, rich with opportunities to goof off. Scheduling the day off and casually exploring your area, trying a new restaurant, or a round of mini-golf are all much-needed ways to blow off some steam!

GOOFING OFF SOLO OR TOGETHER… FUN REGARDLESS

Goofing off solo can still be plenty of fun, but time spent with loved ones is invaluable. Orchestrate some activities with friends and family centered around having fun with a lot of laughs.

MINDSLAP SALUTES YOU

Goofing off is a low-pressure proposition, and as long as you’re laughing and having a good time, there’s no way to do it wrong. For those about to goof off, Mindslap salutes you!
